Overview

Stormtrooper is a
dedicated service hosted by Keypoint in Hobart,
Tasmania. This system is hosted free of charge for comminity and
non profit groups. The server is owned and
administered by Andrew Bergman and Nick Grundy. Stormtrooper
replaces Freeloader, a system that has been hosted by St Patricks College
for
many years.

SlashNET IRC
|

Stormtrooper forms the
'vortex' node of the SlashNET IRC Network. A small IRC network
that is home to some 1100 internet users. SlashNET is also home
to the official IRC channels of community websites such as SourceForge,
Kuro5hin, Penny Arcade, Everything2, OSDN, Linux.com, Slashcode and
MMBase. SlashNET also holds semi-regular interactive forums with
open source and other computer community leaders.

Taswireless

The Taswireless Network
is a project to create a free wireless mesh network accross Tasmanias
population areas. Stormtrooper provides WWW, DNS and EMail
services for Taswireless, including mailing lists.

TasLUG
|
 |
The Tasmanian Linux User
Group is a state wide group of Linux, BSD and Unix enthusiasts.
They meet on a regular basis in the Hobrt and Launceston areas.
TasLUG also host 'install fests' from time to time. Events where
you can take your computer and have a go at getting Linux up and
running on your computer. Stormtrooper provides WWW, Email,
Mailing lists and forums to TasLUG

Kingborough Rover
Crew

Kingborough Rover Crew
is a local Scouting Group (in this case Rovers) who use Stormtrooper
between
meets to keep in contact, talk to each other via forums and use mailing
lists
as a way to keep the crew up to-date on future events and outings. With
the new services Stormtrooper is able to offer over Freeloader the
Kingborough
Rover Crew now have the opotunity to utilise our virtual email service
to give each member of the crew an inividual @krc.org.au domain name.

Quagga Mirror
|
 |
Quagga is an open source routing suite for RIP, RIPv2, RIP-NG
OSPF, OSPFv3 and BGPv4 designed to run on UNIX operating systems.
Stormtrooper provides an Australian mirror for this great open source
project. Quagga is also used by the Taswireless group in the South of
the state to facilitate routing on their wireless network.

Putty Mirror

PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and Unix
platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. It is
written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham.

WICEN Tasmania

WICEN (Wireless Institute of Australia Civil Emergency Network). A group of Amateur radio operators who
provide radio communications networks for events such as Targa Tasmania
and the Subaru Southern Safari. WICEN can also
be activated in states of emergency to suppliment traditional emergency communications networks.

TASVEC is the organisation that maintains and runs the Channel 1 and Channel 5 (Emergency) CB Repeaters
in Southern Tasmania.
